Cardiac screening

What is this treatment?

Cardiac screening is a 60-minute visit with a consultant cardiologist that measures the numbers that predict heart disease: blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, resting ECG and waist measurement, with an echocardiogram where indicated. You leave with a written risk summary and a plan.

Who it's for

Adults over 40, anyone with a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, or symptoms such as chest tightness, breathlessness or palpitations.

What to expect

Blood tests are taken first, followed by an ECG and a consultation with Dr. Raman. If an echocardiogram is needed it is done on the same visit. Your written risk summary is sent to you and your GP the same day.

Questions about this treatment

Do I need to fast?

Yes, for 10 hours before the visit so the cholesterol and blood sugar results are accurate. Water is fine.

How long do results take?

ECG and echo results are discussed at the visit. Blood results are back within 48 hours.
